West Virginia State Police asks for help in fraud investigation involving Whittaker family

BECKLEY, W.Va. (WVNS) — The Beckley Detachment of the West Virginia State Police is asking for the public’s help in an investigation involving the viral Whittaker family.

According to a release from the West Virginia State Police, they are investigating a fraud scheme that involves money and merchandise being sent to the Whittaker family. The money is being sent to them from two suspects, identified by state police as 41-year-old Lawrence “Eric” Carroll, of Georgia, and 41-year-old John “Patrick” Roark, of Odd.

Investigators have asked for anyone who has sent money or merchandise to either of these people or anyone else for the Whittaker family to reach out a provide information about the exchange.

Details on the investigation remain limited.

The Whittaker Family, from Odd, West Virginia in Raleigh County have gone viral on social media and other platforms multiple times. One such instance by the controversial YouTube channel Soft White Underbelly had over 45 million views on YouTube. They have been called the most inbred bloodline in the U.S.
