BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Two officers in Bossier were injured after responding to a man who had barricaded himself inside a residence.

The incident happened on Sunday, September 14, at Villaggio Apartments located on the 5200 block of Venecia Drive. Officers were responding to a welfare check after several family members reported that a man had harmed his wife and was contemplating self-harm. When officers arrived, they found that the subject had barricaded himself inside the residence.

During the investigation, two officers sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening conditions. According to the Louisiana State Police (LSP), the suspect was taken into custody shortly after and transported to a medical facility. He was critically injured by what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Authorities have not provided additional details regarding the suspect or the reported victim.
