Gerald Bihm Jr., 21, of Opelousas is charged with aggravated arson.
Opelousas Police responded just after 5:30 p.m. Saturday to Opelousas General Hospital South Campus regarding a fire reported in a bathroom attached to an emergency room. Hospital staff observed smoke and extinguished the fire before it could spread further, officials said.
No injuries were reported.
Investigators identified Bihm as the suspect. He was later found and booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail, authorities said. Bond details were not released.
This incident remains under investigation.
