Connect Marshall is a recently formed nonprofit. The stated goal is to provide services that make downtown an attractive destination.
Connect Marshall Board Chair Dare Westmoreland said, “Connect Marshall puts Marshall above other towns in East Texas as it provides its citizens and visitors connectivity the other towns don’t. Another good reason to come to Marshall.”
Representatives from Connect Marshall, the City of Marshall, and Harrison County gathered at the site of the first telegraph line in Texas, Telegraph Park, on September 9 to officially launch the network and celebrate quality of life improvements in Marshall.
Marshall Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Rush Harris said, “What I really admire about Connect Marshall is that it is a privately driven grassroots initiative of local stakeholders who want to increase foot traffic downtown and improve the quality of life in our community.”
“They put it together, did their own research, partnered with providers, formed a legal entity, requested seed capital, obtained the proper permissions, and are themselves driving it toward economic sustainability. I get excited to see businesses and citizens working together to make Marshall a better place to live.”
