Fatal car crash in Jefferson Parish

JEFFERSON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A woman was killed in a Jefferson Parish car crash Saturday, Sept. 13.

According to the Louisiana State Police, 49-year-old Selenta James of Metairie died in the crash. James was driving a 2022 Nissan Murano on the Causeway Boulevard exit from I-10 west when she went off the roadway and into the grass. A trooper saw the vehicle and attempted to make contact with James, who appeared to be experiencing a medical emergency.

While the trooper attempted to gain entry, James’s vehicle suddenly accelerated forward and struck a concrete support pillar of the Causeway Boulevard overpass.

James was unrestrained and suffered serious injuries. She was transported to a local hospital where she later died.
