Albany man convicted of sexual battery of juvenile in Louisiana
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — An Albany man has been found guilty of sexual battery of a juvenile.
Joshua Prine, 43, was accused of sexually abusing a child under 13. This incident happened in 2023 at an unlicensed in-home daycare, the Office of District Attorney Scott M. Perrilloux said.

During the two-day trial, Prine’s ex-wife testified on his behalf, saying he was never left alone with the children in her care. Later evidence showed she suggested Prine “confess, take a plea, and stop lying to himself.”
“Combined with the evidence from medical experts, family members, and the victim, these messages successfully raised doubts about the woman’s in-court testimony,” said Perrilloux.

The district judge found Prine guilty and scheduled sentencing for Monday, Sept. 22. He faces 25 to 99 years in prison based on the charges, Perrilloux said.
