Shreveport mayor unveils downtown economic growth strategy

SHREVEPORT, La., (KTAL/KMSS) – Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux discussed a new ordinance for an economic development area in downtown Shreveport, focusing on the entertainment district between Commerce and the parkway, and Texas and Commerce. This will provide additional sales tax for redevelopment. The next council meeting is on September 23, with a work session the day before.

There are only two more community sweeps left in Block-by-Block. Community members are asked to come to the Mooretown neighborhood, starting at Airport Park, on September 13. Following the last clean sweep, the initiative will proceed to Phase II. Pilot makeover programs are planned for Mooretown and Highland, with details to be unveiled by the end of the year.

The mayor also addressed ongoing complexities with G Unit investments, including millennium property leases and state benefits, asking for public patience.
