North Hollywood homeowner shoots burglar. Or did he?
Officers responded to an apartment complex on the 12800 block of Oxnard Street around 10 a.m. Friday morning following reports of a shooting.
There, they contacted the resident of an apartment who told police he heard noises coming from his kitchen. The homeowner said he went down to see what was responsible for the sound when he discovered a man trying to break in through a window.
The tenant told police that he warned the burglar that he was at home and would arm himself if he didn’t leave.
At some point, the homeowner retrieved the gun and fired at the suspect, telling police he hit the man once in the chest.
But when officers investigated the scene, they found no evidence of a gunshot wound and a police dog was unable to locate any blood trail.
The homeowner, however, insisted that the burglar was hit.
At this time, the Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the matter as a burglary and shooting. The suspect was described by the homeowner as a Hispanic man wearing a black mask and black sweater.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
