ICE detains 21 people in northwest Alabama

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained over a dozen people in Franklin County, authorities say.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency partnered with ICE to set up roadblocks on the following county roads:

  • CR 144
  • CR 244
  • CR 724
  • CR 75

The sheriff’s office was not a partner in this raid.

At least 21 people were taken into custody, FCSO Sheriff Shannon Oliver told News 19. More people were detained the night before the roadblocks were set up, but the exact number of total people detained has not been shared with News 19.
