DMV Download | DC Art All Night, Colonial Market Fair, Bowie International Festival and more

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Looking for things to do across the DMV on a budget and don’t know how to spend your days off? Or are you new to the area? Well, you’re in luck.

In DC News Now’s DMV Download, hosts Kaitlyn Dillon and Makayla Jennings explore upcoming events and hidden gems across D.C., Maryland and Virginia.

Colonial Market and Fair

  • Takes place on Saturday, Sept. 13 and Sunday, Sept. 14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at George Washington’s Mount Vernon
  • Step back in time at Colonial Market & Fair, featuring food and wares made by colonial artisans
  • Hear live music from the colonial era, play 18th-century games and watch craftspeople demonstrate period crafting techniques
  • Local and nationally recognized vendors will be selling ceramics, metalwork, jewelry, and reproduction 18th-century goods
  • Free admission

DC Art All Night 

  • Friday, Sept.12 and Saturday, Sept. 13 in all eight wards of the District from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m., with performances starting at 7 p.m.
  • On Saturday, the Martin Luther King Jr. Library will hold a block party featuring GoGo music
  • Expect a night filled with performances and art such as music, dancing, theater, painting, food, and more
  • Attendees can download the “Art All Night” app to help navigate events and local dining spots 
  • Free admission with easy access to the Metro

Capitol Hill Art Walk

  • Saturday, Sept. 13 and Sunday, Sept. 14 from 12 to 4 p.m. on Capitol Hill
  • Over 150 local artists will display their work at 70+ home studios, porches or yards
  • Free to both artists and visitors
  • Easily accessible by Metro (Capitol South, Eastern Market, Potomac Avenue, Union Station) 
  • All styles by both up-and-coming and established artists are for sale.

Bowie International Festival

  • Saturday, Sept. 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Allen Pond Park
  • Enjoy 11 children’s activity centers, over 15 food vendors, and dozens of craft vendors
  • Performances include: Indian dancers, Brazilian Samba dancers, Indigenous American dancers and a headline show by the “Afrofloetry Band”
