The facility will employ around 200 associates and 400 drivers, who will sort packages from delivery centers and load them onto trucks for distribution.
The center will service areas from Beloit to DeKalb, addressing previous challenges where rural areas received Amazon deliveries through UPS or FedEx.
“We’re looking at areas where we’re not able to deliver, and that’s where we’re seeing some of these stations open,” said operations manager Nicholas Fisette.
Fisette added, “Amazon as a whole is also opening up to more rural locations. You may start seeing them, so that we can make sure all of our customers are set no matter where you live, and get the same great service that everyone else can.”
During the opening ceremonies, Amazon donated $10,000 to Oscar Mike, a nonprofit based in the Stateline that supports disabled veterans through sports.
