Pedestrian hit, killed in Oakland

(KRON) — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Oakland near the intersection of 8th Street and Broadway Thursday, the Oakland Police Department told KRON4.

Police were called to the crash shortly after 8:45 a.m. and found the victim lying in the street.

“Officers arrived on scene and located a pedestrian who sustained injuries following a vehicle collision,” OPD said. “Paramedic personnel transported the pedestrian to an area hospital for treatment, where they later died.”

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, OPD said. Police currently do not know if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

The pedestrian’s name is being withheld from the public until their family is notified.
