Over 100 gallons of diesel spill after sedan crashes into big rig on I-880 in Oakland, CHP says

(KRON) — Approximately a total of 150 gallons of diesel spilled on I-880 in Oakland Wednesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Around 1:30 p.m., authorities responded to a crash between a gray Honda Accord and a big rig on the northbound on-ramp at Fruitvale.

The driver of the Honda had minor injuries and did not require transport to a hospital, CHP said. The big rig was carrying the gallons of diesel at the time of the crash. About 75 gallons spilled on the roadway, and the other 75 spilled in a storm drain.

The northbound I-880 offramp at Fruitvale will be closed until 12:01 a.m., Caltrans said.
