NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — LSU will receive $5 million from New Orleans to reestablish their presence in the city.
The city council overrode a veto by Mayor Cantrell. The funding will come from the Wisner Trust, which the city council took control away from the mayor.
“Ed Wisner’s desire was to see the City of New Orleans benefit over the long run. This is an opportunity to keep these benefits going to the city, to the city’s citizens for a long period of time.”
Mayor Cantrell claimed the council overstepped its authority, but a judge ruled in the council’s favor.
