Baton Rouge police arrest woman accused of shooting leaving 1 injured

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Police arrested a woman accused of a Baton Rouge shooting that left one person injured Wednesday afternoon.

Shalyn Barker, 25, was charged with attempted second-degree murder and illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities.

The Baton Rouge Police Department confirmed one person was taken to a hospital in connection with a shooting just before 4 p.m. in the area of 1050 North 47th Street. First responders said the victim was in serious condition.

According to an arrest warrant, Barker fired two shots at the victim after he refused to leave her home and fired one more shot after he fell to the ground.

Barker was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
