CHICAGO (WGN) — Chicago police announced an arrest in the deadly shooting of a South Side teen, who was found dead just days after graduating high school.

The 18-year-old suspect was a juvenile at the time of the shooting, according to police.

Prosecutors in Cook County have charged the 18-year-old male with felony counts of first-degree murder and armed robbery. He appeared in court on Thursday following his arrest two days earlier on Tuesday, Sept. 9.

De’Angelo Miles, 17, a graduate of Hansberry College Prep, was found in an alley on the 11900 block of South Wallace Street with a gunshot to his head shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday, June 1.

Police said a witness found the teen in the alley after hearing gunshots.
