The Mayfield Police Department posted on Facebook that at 6:10 a.m. on Sept. 11, officers got a call about a juvenile making threats toward the middle school.
Authorities said Mayfield officers quickly found and detained an 11-year-old boy. Interviews were carried out, and evidence was allegedly found linking him to the threats.
The boy was lodged in a juvenile detention center and charged with second-degree terroristic threatening, a class D felony, per Mayfield police.
According to law enforcement, there is no ongoing threat to public safety in Mayfield.
“Mayfield Independent School systems were kept informed during the stages of the investigation, and Officers will continue to work with the schools to ensure safety for students and staff,” department officials wrote on social media.
