NEW ORLEANS — Some major injury developments ahead of the New Orleans Saints’ week two bout with the San Francisco 49ers.

Left tackle Taliese Fuaga (knee), guard Trevor Penning (toe), and defensive end Chase Young (calf) did not practice on Wednesday.

Safety Julian Blackmon (shoulder) was also listed as DNP on the Saints’ injury report, but it appears Blackmon suffered a season-ending injury in the team’s opener against Arizona.

Running back Velus Jones Jr. (knee) and long snapper Zach Wood (elbow) were limited. Safety Jordan Howden was listed on the injury report with an oblique injury but he was a full participant at practice.

Over in San Francisco, the 49ers reportedly placed tight end George Kittle on IR earlier this week.

On Wednesday, head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that starting quarterback Brock Purdy is a “long shot” to play against the Saints.

Mac Jones is expected to start the team’s week two contest against the Saints.

Kickoff is set for noon at the Caesars Superdome.

The San Francisco 49ers are currently a 3.5-point favorite.
