Angus MacLachlan wrote and directed the film “A Little Prayer,” which is currently running in 80 theaters in the U.S.
He’s from Winston-Salem and shot the film around the city, including the Reynolda House and Old Salem. The story features a father who discovers his adult son is having an affair and tries to protect his daughter-in-law from the fallout.
National Film critics are raving about the film and its actors. Locally, people love seeing their city featured on the big screen. “A Little Prayer” is playing at a/perture cinema in Winston-Salem.
MacLachlan was worried that the film would never come to fruition after the pandemic and a cancer diagnosis. He had to have a kidney removed just months before filming, which ultimately influenced the film to be set in Winston-Salem.
The film made a special premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. It also premiered at RiverRun International Film Festival this past spring.
