Bryce Tanner Fivas, 36, was arrested in Tooele County on charges of negligently operating a vehicle causing seriously bodily injury (third-degree felony) and automobile homicide (second-degree felony).
On Sept. 6, a Tooele police officer responded to 2400 North Main St. regarding an auto-pedestrian accident. Upon arrival, the officer found Fivas at the scene.
Fivas told police that he thought he may have hit someone while driving northbound on Main St. The victim was reportedly in the road deceased, while Fivas’ vehicle was on fire in the opposite lane.
Additionally, a second victim was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, police said.
While speaking with Fivas, the officer noticed the smell of alcohol on Fivas’ breath. The officer also said he had “glossy red eyes and exhibited slurred, delayed speech.”
The officer conducted a field sobriety test, which Fivas reportedly failed. Police then arrested Fivas at the scene.
Fivas was booked into Tooele County Jail on the aforementioned charges. No further information is available at this time.
