Evacuations ordered for new Crump Fire growing in Riverside County

Another wildfire has ignited and prompted evacuation orders in Riverside County on Saturday afternoon, officials warned.

CAL FIRE in Riverside County first reported the newly dubbed Crump Fire around 1 p.m. at Riverside Street and Highway 74 in the unincorporated area of Meadowbrook and Lake Elisnore, northeast of Warm Valley Springs.

Multiple air and ground resources immediately attacked the blaze, which crews measured to be about 55 acres as of 2 p.m.

Evacuation orders were issued for the following zones: 

• LSN-1407
• RVC-1408
• North of Highway 74
• South of Mountain Ave.
• West of Peach St.
• East of Crumpton Rd.

CAL FIRE issues evacuation orders if it deems there is an immediate threat to life. “This is a lawful order to LEAVE NOW,” states the department’s website. “The area is lawfully closed to public access.”

An evacuation center was established at Pinacate Middle School, located at 1900 S. A. St., Perris. An animal shelter, for both large and small animals, can be found at the San Jacinto Animal Shelter located at 581 S Grand Ave.

Crews said the Crump Fire was 10% contained as of 2:20 p.m. “Hand crews and firefighters are diligently constructing and reinforcing containment lines while multiple air resources continue to make water and retardant drops to slow the fire’s spread,” stated the department on X.

Footage provided by the ALERTCalifornia Camera Feed showed multiple water drops deployed in the burn area, and the smoke appeared to die down from multiple camera angles.
