Abilene residents to experience fireworks for ACU football home opener

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRRBC) – Abilene residents may notice fireworks in the air this evening as Abilene Christian University (ACU) kicks off its first home football game of the 2025 season.

The Wildcats face off at 7 p.m. Saturday, September 6, at Anthony Field at Wildcat Stadium. Fans can expect fireworks and other pyrotechnics marking the team’s entrance, the national anthem, and every time ACU scores.

The Abilene Fire Department is reminding neighbors near the stadium that the show will likely be both visible and loud. Officials encourage residents to prepare ahead, especially when it comes to keeping pets safe and comfortable.
