Wednesday: Daytime highs drop nearly 10-degrees from Tuesday
It was a noticeably cooler day Wednesday for most of the area thanks in part to extensive cloudiness and the arrival of spotty showers late morning which prevented temperatures from warming up.
The first sign of Autumnal air is evident on these maps as temperatures have fallen into the 60s for much of the area, a significant drop from the same time on Tuesday.
Scattered showers and embedded thunderstorms accompanied the cool-down, but amounts were generally under a half inch with far southwest suburban Streator the lone exception where nearly 0.80″ fell.
Much cooler air across the Upper Midwest is a sign of things to come here across the Chicago area. Highs as much as 20-degrees below normal in parts of Minnesota. Meantime, record heat continues to broil parts of the Pacific Northwest.
No relief for Ragweed sufferers as the count remains high. It’s been high for more than two weeks straight.
