Vote: Years of free concerts could come to Shreveport, who pays and what’s needed

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – 2026 could be a very musical year, according to the Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC), they are just a few steps away from winning a grant that could supply free concerts to the public for years.

If awarded, the Levitt Music Series Grant would fund performances from a wide array of music genres and feature nationally known musicians as well as local talent.

The grant is supported by funding from the Levitt Foundation. The foundation is a national social impact funder that focuses on music, public space, and community building.

Chosen nonprofits can receive up to $120,000 in matching funds over three years. This funding will support the development of “Levitt Music Series”, which will feature seven to 10 free outdoor concerts annually.

The Arts Council submitted the proposal for Shreveport to present the free music series at the Pavilion in Caddo Common Park, known as Shreveport Common.

According to a release from the Arts Council, Mayor Aceneaux is hoping that everyone casts their vote. “Shreveport has a long history of celebrating the arts, and this opportunity would allow us to expand that tradition with free, live music for all to enjoy at Caddo Common Park. I encourage our community to show their support by voting for Shreveport in this process. Let’s make this happen!”

Shreveport’s proposal is now posted on the Levitt Foundation website, where the public
can vote.

Online public voting opens September 5, at 12 noon and ends September 15, 2025, at 7:00
p.m.

The public can cast their vote online at levitt.org/vote or text SHREVEPORT to 877-409-5525.

Your vote will help determine the top 50 Levitt Music Series finalists that will be one step closer to receiving up to $120K.
