Two apprehended after displaying gun near Guilford High School

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Two suspects were apprehended Friday after an incident involving a gun near Guilford High School.

According to a notice sent to parents, “Two individuals in a vehicle drove past an outdoor PE class yelling and displaying a handgun. Protective action was taken.  Staff immediately alerted the School Resource Officer and directed students away from the area to safety.”

The school said the two suspects drove away from the scene, and were apprehended by police.

Rockford Police said the vehicle was located near Alpine and E. State Street, and two men were detained.

According to Guilford, classes continued as normal.
