SPD officers arrested, linked to merchandise theft from Shreveport business
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Three Shreveport police officers have been arrested and charged with theft and malfeasance in office following an internal and criminal investigation into an incident that surfaced on social media.
The video, first reported by KSLA, showed an officer returning items to a local store. Police said the case originated when officers responded to a casino, where a vehicle recovery agency reported a large quantity of items inside a repossessed vehicle. Some of those items were later recovered and returned, while others were found in the department’s property room.
Chief Wayne Smith placed three officers on administrative leave as part of the investigation, which led to the arrests of Officer Kourtney Jackson, Corporal Shanora Gipson Ross, and Corporal Tarogie Jones. Jackson joined the department as a dispatcher in 2018 and became an officer in 2023; Ross and Jones have been with the department since 2016.
All three are being booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.
