She explained that what they gave her was a small portion of the goods.

Later she said a female officer started calling her which eventually led to the officer telling Katherine she would bring the merchandise back.

Katherine said, “When she first came in, she was like I’m sorry, I’m sorry. ” Katherine asked, “Sorry for what? What are you sorry for?” She says the officer told her this is all she gave me.

Later they say the officer asked how much the merchandise she brought back would cost to purchase. They told her $900.

Herman Leamette Owner of 318 Plug said, “She never said she stole. She was like, she didn’t think the other girl who stole the stuff would be able to pay for it, but then she said meet her at A. C. Steer school on Youree Drive. She stay over there, and get $900 dollars fr.”

Katherine and Herman then called police. Shreveport Police sent us a statement which read in part.

“Chief Wayne Smith acted swiftly upon receiving this information. Out of an abundance of caution and in the interest of maintaining public trust, Chief Smith placed three Shreveport Police Department officers on administrative leave.

At this stage, the criminal investigation is still ongoing, and no final determinations have been made.

Our investigators are working diligently to review all available evidence, including the video and reports associated with the incident. Once the facts are fully gathered, appropriate action will be taken.

The Shreveport Police Department recognizes the importance of accountability and transparency, especially in matters that involve public trust.

We want the community to know that we take these types of allegations very seriously.

“As soon as a determination has been made regarding whether departmental policies or laws have been violated, we will release that information to the public.” Shreveport Police say.
