Police seize firearm, cannabis during traffic stop; suspect in custody
Police seize firearm, cannabis during traffic stop; suspect in custody
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Mauri Scott, 20, for allegedly having weapons and cannabis in his vehicle.

Officers were on patrol near 23rd and Broadway when they saw a black Buick Lacrosse with windows tinted below the legal limit. Authorities pulled the car over in a Mobil Gas Station parking lot on Broadway.

Police smelled raw cannabis when they approached the vehicle, which resulted in a search.

Officials found cannabis and a loaded firearm.

The driver, Scott, is charged with possession of a firearm without a FOID card, driving while unlicensed, aggravated possession of a loaded weapon while inside a vehicle and aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon while inside a vehicle.

The suspect’s mugshot was not readily available.
