New evacuation orders in place as Salt Fire nears Fresno County line
The Salt Fire, which ignited around 3 a.m. Tuesday, has grown about 5,500 acres since yesterday. As of 5:30 p.m. Thursday, it was mapped at 17,638 acres.
While the fire made some runs to the northwest, most of the growth could be seen toward the south and southwest, spurring new evacuations in Monterey County.
Evacuation orders are now in place for zones: MRY-G041-A, P18B, P25, P27A, and P28. Evacuation warnings are also in place for zones: MRY-G041-B, P18A, P24B, and P27B.
Cal Fire reports that containment has also grown; as of 5:30 p.m., the fire was reported at 10% contained.
