TONIGHT: Skies will be mostly clear with lows in the lower 70s.
TOMORROW: Friday will be hot and mainly dry. There is a 10% chance for a shower or thunderstorm. Highs will be in the mid-90s with heat index values around 100-103 degrees.
LOOKING AHEAD: Saturday will be mainly dry, but be on the lookout for a stray shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening hours if you are planning on heading out to the LSU or Southern football games. Otherwise, it will be hot with highs in the lower 90s. There will be a slightly better chance for a few showers and thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon as our next cold front moves in. This front looks to be strong enough to bring a slight cool down early next week, with highs in the upper 80s and lows in the upper 60s.
TRACKING THE TROPICS:
A tropical wave continues to produce showers and thunderstorms west of the Cabo Verde Islands and has a HIGH chance of development over the next 2-5 days. The National Hurricane Center has designated this system as “Invest 91L”. We will likely have a tropical depression or storm this weekend. The next name on the list is Gabrielle. Invest 91L will continue to generally track westward the next few days. Model guidance indicates that impacts to the Lesser Antilles are possible late next week. Impacts to the Gulf Coast are unlikely at this time, but we will keep you updated on the latest details.
