Fugitive wanted since 2021 arrested after Crime Stoppers tip
Janus Reaux, 41, of Gueydan, is charged with dozens of crimes including possession with intent to distribute at least 12 different narcotics, eight counts of contempt of court and five counts of resisting arrest by force.
Vermilion Parish Sheriff Eddie Langlinais said Crime Stoppers of Vermilion received a tip on Tuesday that led to the arrest.
“Based on the information provided, the United States Marshals Service and the Lafayette Police
Department Special Investigations Division located and apprehended Reaux later that afternoon
within the city limits of Lafayette, in Lafayette Parish,” Langlinais said.
Reaux had been on the run since September 2021 and was wanted on multiple felony narcotics
warrants in Vermilion Parish. He had been featured on Crime Stoppers of Vermilion several
times and was actively sought after by multiple agencies, officials said.
Reaux was arrested without incident Tuesday, authorities said, and is being held in the Vermilion Parish jail on a total bond of $348,000.
