Baton Rouge woman accused of stabbing another woman with kitchen knife inside home
Shawniqueca Rogers, 46, of Baton Rouge, was charged with resisting an officer, attempted second-degree murder, and resisting a police officer with force or violence.
The Baton Rouge Police Department was called to a home on Conrad Drive around 5:20 p.m.
When police arrived, Rogers was handcuffed and another woman was found to have a cut close to her chin. EMS was then called to the scene.
The woman who was injured stated that Rogers had been living at the home for six months. At some point, the victim was on the phone in the home when Rogers entered and threw a beer at her. She suspected that the Baton Rouge woman “thought the phone conversation was about her,” according to the affidavit.
BRPD said Rogers went into the kitchen and got a kitchen knife. They said she then charged the woman and struck her one time before returning to the kitchen and leaving the knife in the kitchen sink.
Rogers then went outside the home and was detained soon after by police. BRPD said she appeared drunk during the ensuing conversation. Rogers stated that the woman hit her and admitted to stabbing the woman.
The woman was also later found to have a large wound on her neck. BRPD said Rogers hit an officer while trying to flee.
She was transferred to a police unit and refused to stay there, which required the use of a chemical agent.
The Baton Rouge woman was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Wednesday, Sept. 3.
