LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — AAA officials say Arkansas’ average price for regular unleaded gas rose three cents over the past week.

Drivers in Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers are paying the most at $2.84 per gallon, while Hot Springs residents are paying the least at $2.73, officials said.

“Despite the weekly increase, gas prices remain lower than this time last year,” said AAA spokesperson Nick Chabarria. “Barring any unforeseen disruptions in the oil and gas industry, we are approaching a time of year when drivers can typically expect prices to decline.”

According to officials, the national average for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is $3.20, one cent lower than last week and 12 cents below last year.

Gas prices were updated on Sept. 4, at 3:41 a.m. local time, officials said.
