METAIRIE, La. (WGNO) — As a librarian, you figure that Christie Cognevich likes books.

She got her PhD in literature from LSU.

Christie is well read, according to WGNO Good Morning New Orleans features reporter Bill Wood.

She’s also well-rounded. She likes to listen to music.

Her favorite? Pop Punk.

When she listens, she’s listening between the lines, and what she hears, is poetry.

Pure poetry from pop punk.

You’re invited to talk the talk with her at her talk at the Eastbank Regional Library in Metairie for “Reading the Black Parade: Pop-Punk as Poetry Series!” event.

“When they leave, I want people to know that poetry is not inaccessible in a tower with dusty dead people. It is happening everyday, all day around them,” said Cognevich.

It’s on Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and it’s free.
