The Kansas Lottery is getting ready to roll out a new ‘DoublePlay‘ feature for Powerball players starting on Sept. 22. Players can make use of DoublePlay when playing the Powerball by paying an additional $1 to cash in on the secondary drawing. DoublePlay immediately follows the main Powerball jackpot drawing and has a maximum prize of $10 million.
“Double Play is an add-on feature that gives players in select jurisdictions another chance to match their Powerball numbers in a separate drawing with a top cash prize of $10 million,” Kansas Lottery spokesman Cory Thone said.
DoublePlay is currently available in 21 other states across the nation, including all of Kansas’ neighbors, according to the Powerball. The Kansas Lottery will issue fewer multi-draw options for players as the Sept. 22 date gets closer in preparation for the imminent change.
“If a player wants to add more chances to win, then this provides that without adjusting the base price of a play of the game,” Thone said. “One Powerball ticket remains at just $2.”
Thone said once the DoublePlay feature becomes available, players will be able to buy up to 15 drawings in advance again as they could previously. You can learn more about DoublePlay by heading to the Powerball’s website.
