Video shows Eagan squad car using grappler
For the first time, we’re seeing how new technology aimed at stopping dangerous chases actually works in the field.

Last weekend, Eagan police deployed it during a pursuit, a moment that was captured on video.
According to the department, a woman driving a truck and pulling a trailer ran a red light. When officers tried to conduct a traffic stop, she drove away, causing officers to initiate a pursuit.
As the truck continued, video shows an Eagan squad equipped with the “Grappler” driving up and deploying the device, which snagged the back tire of the trailer and brought the chase to an end.
The driver tried to run away but was quickly arrested.
Eagan police say they have two squads equipped with a “Grappler.” The tool costs $5,000 apiece.
