MORGAN CITY, La. (KLFY) — Two boys in Morgan City had their electric scooters stolen in broad daylight, but thanks to action by local law enforcement, the scooters have been recovered.

Randy Clark, 38, was arrested on Aug. 29 for theft and criminal trespassing. Authorities began investigating when after the theft was reported about a week ago to the St.

Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said the boys were initially thrilled with their electric-powered scooters. One boy had saved his own money to buy his scooter, while the other received his as a Christmas gift. The theft gained significant attention on social media, raising concerns that the scooters might be disposed of before they could be recovered.

Officials, working alongside the Morgan City Police Department, obtained a warrant for Clark and he was apprehended at 6:44 p.m. There was no information released regarding Clark’s bail.

Today, officials said they have recovered the scooters, much to the relief of the boys and their families.
