Ouachita Parish authorities have deemed that Anthony Holland, Jr., of West Monroe, lacks the mental capacity to understand the proceedings against him. Holland was committed to the custody of the Department of Health and Hospitals Aug. 21.
The partial remains of Turner were found Jan. 24, 2024 in the Ouachita River in Catahoula Parish by a local boater. The autopsy results indicated that the remains found were a human torso with the extremities and head removed in a deliberate and very precise manner.
The autopsy report indicated that the victim was allegedly sexually assaulted by Holland and her neck was broken.
Authorities said after his arrest, Holland allegedly admitted to picking the victim up in New Iberia and said he brought the victim to his home where they planned to engage in a relationship.
Although Holland gave multiple different statements, he allegedly admitted that he killed Turner inside his apartment during a sexual act. After Holland realized the victim was dead, he reportedly dismembered the victim with a large kitchen knife.
According to court documents, authorities of the Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System will inform the court when Holland can comprehend the proceedings against him and assist in his defense.
