Upon arrival, officers discovered that a residence and vehicle sustained damage after being struck multiple times by gunfire. Approximately 15 spent 9mm casings were recovered near the scene. Eight individuals were inside the residence but no injuries were reported, police said.
According to police, they identified the suspect as Jomarick Sellers, who had allegedly been involved in an altercation earlier that day in which he allegedly brandished a firearm and issued threats to one of the occupants of the residence.
During the investigation, officers connected Sellers to a gray Dodge Challenger and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. When officers made contact, the suspect allegedly fled at speeds exceeding 140 mph and traveled through an active construction zone on I-10. The pursuit ended when the vehicle was located after crashing in a field near Egan, police reported.
During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered multiple packages of synthetic marijuana packaged for distribution, along with a digital scale.
Police said they arrested and charged Sellers with eight counts of attempted first-degree murder, possession with intent to distribute synthetic marijuana, aggravated flight from an officer, aggravated assault with a firearm and resisting arrest.
This case remains under investigation.
