IMPD: Shooting leaves 1 dead on Indy’s east side

INDIANAPOLIS — An investigation is underway after a person was killed in a shooting on the east side of Indianapolis on Thursday night.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called around 6:39 p.m. to the 9500 block of E. 37th Place in response to a report of a possible stolen vehicle in the area. However, the run was soon upgraded to a person shot.

Officers arrived on the scene and discovered one victim suffering from a confirmed gunshot wound. They were initially reported to be in critical condition. IMPD confirmed around 7:43 p.m. that the victim had been pronounced deceased.
