IMPD: 1 critical after shooting on east side; person detained

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis metro police are on the scene of a shooting that left one person critically injured on the city’s east side Monday night.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched around 7:32 p.m. to the 5700 block of E. Washington Street in response to a shots fired run. IMPD said officers arrived and located a victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

They were last reported to be in critical condition, according to IMPD. Police confirmed that an individual has been detained on the scene. It remains unclear what role, if any, they may have had in the shooting.
