NEW IBERIA, La. (
KLFY) — A deadly crash has claimed the life of a Lake Charles man in Iberia Parish.
Yesterday morning, just before 6 a.m., Louisiana State Police began investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash on U.S. 90 near its intersection with Neco Town Road. Officials said the crash ultimately claimed the life of Waddell Mulmore, 58, of Lake Charles.
Authorities said an investigation revealed that Mulmore was driving a GMC Sierra westbound on U.S. 90. At the same time, a Nissan Murano was traveling east in the left lane.
For reasons still under investigation, the GMC exited the roadway to the right before overcorrecting and crossing both lanes of U.S. 90 west. The truck then entered the median, continued across, entered the eastbound lanes of U.S. 90 and struck the Nissan.
Officials said Mulmore, who was unrestrained at the time of the crash, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Nissan was restrained, sustained serious injures, and was transported to a local hospital.
