AAA Texas: Seasonal shift eases gas prices
According to AAA Texas, drivers in El Paso are paying the most on average at $3.17 per gallon, while drivers in Lubbock are paying the least at $2.66 per gallon. Drivers in Amarillo are paying $2.71 per gallon, which is 2 cents more than last week and 9 cents less than the same day last year.
AAA Texas officials stated that gas prices are following the usual fall trend, moving slightly lower after Labor Day and the close of the summer driving season. Prices are expected to remain steady as demand eases and the transition to the less expensive winter-blend begins later this fall.
“We’re seeing the usual post-Labor Day shift, with gas prices moving down slightly,” said Daniel Armbruster, spokesperson for AAA Texas. “Prices have remained mostly steady through the summer and could trend lower in September as demand continues to ease.”
