According to the sheriff’s office, over the past several months, deputies have encountered a recurring scam targeting inmate co-signers and bond companies shortly after an inmate’s release.
The co-signers are being contacted by a person who is claiming to represent the jail or another authority and the caller then demands additional payments. The caller then threatens if the payments are made, the inmate will be returned to custody.
TCSO says, please know that the jail staff will not call anyone in regards to a situation such as this.
