According to the sheriff’s office, a scammer has been calling family members while posing as a supervisor at the detention center. The caller claims the inmate is being held without bond and offers to arrange their release on an ankle monitor for a fee of several hundred dollars.
At least one person has fallen victim to the scam and lost a significant amount of money.
Officials stress that accurate bond information can only be obtained by calling the detention center directly at 870-425-7000. The sheriff’s office does not contact family members to offer alternative bond arrangements.
Law enforcement is urging residents not to provide personal information or make payments in response to such calls.
