Park City High School briefly placed into ‘secure’ mode after report of armed individual

PARK CITY, Utah (ABC4) — Park City High School briefly entered secure status after police received a report regarding an armed individual on campus.

According to a press release from the Park City Police Department, around 1:47 p.m. Wednesday, they received a report of a “possibly armed individual” on Park City High School’s Campus.

In response, police coordinated with school officials to address the threat, and Park City High School went into “secure” mode, meaning that all external doors were locked to prevent anyone from entering.

The Park City Police Department says that they reviewed surveillance footage and investigated the report. Officers determined that the individual did not pose any danger to the school and cleared the threat.

Park City High School ended its “secure” status and returned to normal operations at 2:13 p.m., just before school ended for the day.

The police department expressed its appreciation for “the cooperation of students, parents, and staff during this incident.”
