WGNO crews are currently on the scene at the Gentilly Ridge Apartment Complex in the 6000 block of Chef Menteur Highway.
According to NOFD Captain Edwin Holmes, reported the blaze to be a 4-alarm fire with second floor apartments on the right side of the building fully engulfed.
Holmes said he believes the fire started in the laundry room and extended to the back claiming approximately 30 apartments with it. He adds that firefighters were able to keep the fire from extending to the left side.
