Weather worries: Weekend rain & action in the tropics
Severe weather worries? We will not have any worries with severe weather through Friday. The next chance could come with the arrival of a cold front this weekend. A few thunderstorms will be possible this weekend, but issues with severe weather are looking unlikely at this time. We will know more as the weekend gets closer.
Tropical Worries? All will remain quiet in the tropics this week. The National Hurricane Center indicates that a disturbance just now emerging off the coast of Africa has a medium chance of becoming a tropical depression in the coming week. This will have to be watched during the next few weeks. Last night’s models indicate that it could be near Florida by the middle of the month. Morning model runs suggest it will turn to the north before threatening the US. It appears that the Gulf should remain quiet for the next few weeks.
Weather Worry Index 2 out of 10: While thunderstorms are looking promising this weekend, there is a great deal of uncertainty on the amount of upper-level support that may be provided. Given this uncertainty and lack of tropical concerns, today’s WWI will be 2 out of ten. This could go up if it becomes more obvious that severe weather could threaten this weekend. Stay tuned!
