Utah teen in critical condition after being run over by vehicle in Herriman

HERRIMAN, Utah (ABC4) — A Herriman teen is recovering in critical condition after being run over by a vehicle where two of his friends were inside.

Carson, 16, was flown to the hospital in extremely critical condition after an auto-pedestrian crash Friday night, according to Herriman Police. According to police, Carson and two others were exploring a residential area mostly under construction after attending a high school football game.

At one point, Carson was outside the vehicle while it was moving and was run over. He is reportedly facing multiple serious, traumatic injuries.

Investigators said the driver did not see Carson in front of the vehicle before the incident.

“Carson is an amazing son, brother, uncle, and friend. He loves music, football, and life in general,” his GoFundMe states. “You’ll always catch him in a swaggy outfit with his favorite shades. He is always smiling and happy to include those around him. He makes everyone laugh and feel abundantly loved and important.”

According to his GoFundMe, Carson went in for a long surgery at 8 a.m. on Sunday. He made it through surgery and is showing positive signs of recovery. He was able to get his ventilator removed, though he is still receiving oxygen, and is doing “really well” since coming out of surgery, according to an update on Sunday.

“The family asks that you keep Carson in your thoughts and prayers while he continues fighting hard in the ICU,” his GoFundMe states. “All we want is for Carson to be jamming to reggae music, playing with his nieces and nephews, and being the amazing kid he is again soon.”
