NEW IBERIA, La. (
KLFY) — One person was hospitalized after a shooting in New Iberia over the Labor Day weekend, authorities said.
New Iberia Police received a report just after 7:30 p.m. Sunday of shots fired in the area of South Hopkins Street and Robertson Street. Shortly after, NIPD was notified of a gunshot victim in the 200 block of Prairie Avenue.
The unidentified victim was taken to a local hospital and later transferred to a Lafayette hospital in stable condition, officials said.
Officers located the crime scene in the 600 block of South Hopkins Street. Investgators said an altercation at a gathering led to the shooting.
All parties involved have been identified and an arrest is imminent, police said. No other information was released.
